How to beat: Doppler
A doppler that copies its attacker gains some of their skills, so the one disguised as Geralt can use Quen's active shield and blasts of Igni and fights almost as well as a witcher. Be patient, do not attack while its shield is visible, since the detonation can knock you down, and focus on parrying and counterattacks. Yrden lets you corral it and land several hits, while Axii also gives an opening but breaks after a single strike. Coat your silver sword with Relict oil. If you choose to keep fighting after it is defeated in Geralt's form, it switches to another shape, loses its Signs and becomes less aggressive, making the second phase easier.
About
Dopplers are shapeshifters that can take the form of any person or creature they have met, as long as its body weight is similar to their own. They once lived on the plateau near what is now Novigrad, then moved into the city itself because it offered them better chances of survival. They are also encountered in Skellige.
