How to beat: Fiend
Fight a fiend much like a chort, only bigger and angrier, and coat your silver sword in relict oil. Its third eye is the main threat: Signs, but not sword hits, interrupt the hypnosis charge-up, and a well-timed Samum bomb disables the eye for good; Devil's Puffball also works. When it crouches and the ground shakes, back off about two rolls or move behind or beside it, since the trance only works within the eye's sight; Cat potion in its enhanced or superior version makes you immune. Axii is great for breaking the charge-up, Igni's firestream and burning bombs such as Dancing Star are effective, and against its bull-like charge you can roll aside or absorb it with Quen. It is weak against attacks from almost directly behind.
About
The fiend is a huge relict resembling an oversized deer, a mountain of muscle with a horned, toothy head. It lives in dense forests, swamps and bogs and avoids people when it can. Its wounds heal very fast, its bulk makes it immune to Aard, and a third eye in its forehead can put victims into a deadly trance.
