How to beat: Arachas
An arachas hits hard and its attacks are poisonous, so drink Golden Oriole and coat your silver sword with Insectoid oil. If you try to keep your distance it shoots a sticky web that pins Geralt in place while it charges, so do not stay at range for long. Hacking at it from the front is a mistake, because it shields itself with its pincers and answers with a counterattack that can knock you down. It is too big for Aard to knock over, but the other Signs work: Igni sets it alight for a hit or two, Quen absorbs one attack, Yrden slows it down so you can flank it, and Axii holds it long enough to reach its weaker rear.
About
Arachasae, also called crab spiders, are large, highly venomous insectoids with powerful pincers, a maw full of sharp teeth and a soft, oversized abdomen that they hide under hollow tree trunks carried on their backs. Originally from the far south, they spread north and settled in damp woods and swamps. Standing still, an arachas easily passes for part of the undergrowth, which it uses to ambush prey.
Loot
