How to beat: Dettlaff van der Eretein
In his two-legged form Dettlaff attacks in surprising ways with razor-sharp claws, so stay alert and dodge rather than trade blows. Coat your silver sword with Vampire oil and drink Black Blood, which turns his bites and blows against him. Keep Quen up at all times to absorb the hits you cannot avoid. Like other higher vampires he can turn into mist, so watch for magic puddles and attacks from above, and when wounded he takes on his winged form and uses his wings to stun. He can also turn invisible and regenerate during the fight, so keep up the pressure.
About
Dettlaff van der Eretein, known as the Beast of Beauclair, is a higher vampire and one of the most terrifying creatures Geralt faces in Toussaint. He once saved the life of Regis by regenerating him with his own blood, which left Regis forever in his debt. Unlike those higher vampires who live quietly among humans, he is ferocious and extremely dangerous once provoked.
