How to beat: Higher Vampire
Higher vampires are among the strongest foes a witcher can face, and in their bestial form evasion is essential despite their speed. They like to strike while invisible, so Yrden is vital both to reveal them and to hold them in place for your silver sword coated in vampire oil. Igni is one of their few real weaknesses and briefly stuns them when they catch fire. Keep Quen ready to absorb a blow; Black Blood helps, but only once the vampire has already drawn your blood, and Tawny Owl lets you cast Signs more often. Note that daylight, holy water, religious symbols and garlic do not affect them.
About
Higher vampires are extremely rare and far closer to humans than to bestial lesser vampires: they look like people, think like people and often live quietly in cities. A witcher's medallion does not react to them, they do not need blood to survive, and some never harm anyone. Those who do are fearsomely strong, can turn invisible, take the form of a giant bat and are nearly impossible to kill, since even grave wounds heal in time.
