Bring the royal griffin down from the air with Grapeshot or Aard, then fight it on the ground with a silver sword coated in Hybrid oil. Quen is also listed among its weaknesses and helps absorb its blows.
About
The royal griffin is a subspecies of the common griffin, set apart mainly by its larger body and longer wings. It is the first serious monster Geralt fights in The Witcher 3, hunted with Vesemir in White Orchard in exchange for a pouch of gold and information about Yennefer.
