How to beat: Shaelmaar

A shaelmaar's armoured back deflects most blows, and its signature move is curling into a ball and rolling at you. Bait that charge from a distance while standing near a wall, roll out of the way and let it slam into the obstacle, then attack its exposed underbelly while it is stunned. Aard and Samum bombs help steer it into walls, and Relict oil boosts your damage during those openings. Quen is useful, but a single hit can break it, and Axii only stuns it briefly without letting you hurt it. After it loses about two thirds of its health, back off and wait out its area attack with stones.

About

Shaelmaars are large, blind relicts from Blood and Wine that spend most of their lives in tunnels deep underground, coming up only occasionally. They navigate by echolocation, sensing sound and vibrations much like bats, and their burrowing near the surface can shake and collapse buildings. In Nilfgaard and Toussaint they are sometimes pitted against gladiators and knights in arenas.

Loot

Possible drops – not every kill yields all of them.
