Dracolizards, also called slyzards, are large grey flying reptiles, sometimes as big as a dragon and often mistaken for wyverns or forktails. Unlike those, they breathe fire, and they also strike with a spiked, venomous tail. They are encountered in Toussaint and in the Dragon Mountains near Barefield.

Dracolizard is a monster from the draconid class in The Witcher 3. It appears in the Blood and Wine expansion. It is vulnerable to: Grapeshot, Draconid oil, Aard, Quen. Where to find it: Dragon Mountains near Barefield, Toussaint. Loot includes Dragon scales, Greater Glyph of Igni, Red mutagen, Monster brain and 9 more. It appears in 2 quests, including Contract: Bovine Blues.

How to beat: Dracolizard

Slyzards do not get stunlocked after you dodge and punish an attack, so alternate between a sideways dodge and a single strike, then prepare for the counterattack. Standing behind or beside one is not safe, as it can lash out with its tail. When it breathes fire it is locked in place for a moment, which gives you room for two or three hits, and up close the breath is easy to dash away from. Use Aard and the crossbow to keep it on the ground, Grapeshot for extra damage, Draconid oil on your blade and Quen for protection, but do not rely on burning, as it is immune to fire. In the air, watch its mouth for a gathering flame and roll away early from the fireball, because the explosion can catch you even mid-roll.
